Collecting Sue Clowes: 1980s Fashion and Textile Designer
An exhibition featuring the fashion and textiles of leading 1980s London-based designer Sue Clowes. Her designs were most famously worn by eighties pop icons Boy George and Culture Club. Between 1981 and 1986 Clowes produced a series of collections, all featured in this exhibition, each of which featured intricate prints that became a trademark of Clowes’ designs.

Building Financial Resilience for Later Life
This is a visual arts exhibition dedicated to exploring the intersections between ethnicity, financial security, and pension protection. It is the first public exhibition as part of our 3-year academic project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council’s Inclusive Ageing initiative, titled ‘Promoting inclusivity in pension protection and other forms of saving among men and women from black and minority ethnic communities in the UK: a mixed methods study’.

Moving Colour
Exhibition closed for Easter Break 29/3/24–4/4/24. Moving Colour is a multi-disciplinary group exhibition exploring phenomenological qualities in formal aspects of colour. The idea of static colour and pattern conveying emotional space is not new, and yet artists to this day are mystified by the Rubik’s cube of the proposition. Each artist’s work in this exhibition demonstrates a unique explorative path to capture the seemingly moving magic of colour.

Ordinary Things
More than a century ago, Marcel Duchamp celebrated ordinary objects by putting them on pedestals in galleries. His playful engagement with the ‘museum effect’ — the extraordinary attention we’re expected to pay any object placed in an art gallery — suggested that art is an act of heightened awareness. In ‘Ordinary Things’, twenty-six artists at WSA transform everyday objects into complex meditations on what it means to be in the world.
