Playing with the Climate crisis is a 3 day table top gaming event in which you will hear talks, have a chance to participate in a climate game making workshop and be the first people in the world to play a pre-production copy of Daybreak: https://www.daybreakgame.org/

Daybreak is designed by Matt Leacock, the creator of Pandemic (the most successful cooperative game in history), and Matteo Menapace, a designer and educator specializing in cooperative play. Developed and published by CMYK.

PLAY: visitors will be encouraged to sit down and try a bunch of climate-themed games.

We will have 12 different games for visitors to play and 2 specific timed session to play Daybreak itself (see agenda).

LEARN: designers will present their games and research in a series of short talks + Q&A panels.

MAKE: participants will prototype and playtest games in response to the climate crisis.

Co-organised by Adam Procter, programme leader for the BA Games Design & Art at Winchester School of Art, and Matteo Menapace, co-designer of Daybreak, a cooperative board game about stopping climate change.

Participants include climate activists, artists, designers, policy makers, university researchers, students and members of the public.

Where?

On the 13-15 April, at Winchester School of Art Gallery in conjunction with the exhibition Wastework.

Online: talks and play sessions will be live-streamed on the Winchester Games twitch channel.
