Coming soon: WSA Painting Prize 2023
The new WSA Painting Prize celebrates outstanding painting practice at undergraduate level, culminating in an exhibition at the Winchester Gallery, University of Southampton in Autumn 2023.
The inaugural 2023 contemporary art exhibition seeks to support and nurture innovative work from women artists in Greece and the UK in acknowledgement of the continued under-representation of women artists worldwide.
With the intention of creating opportunities for young female Greek artists in collaboration with their contemporaries in the UK, this initiative invites every higher education institution in the UK and in Greece that offers a BA Fine Art or Painting course to nominate a student who identifies as female to submit a work for the 2023 WSA Painting Prize; either a painting or a work exploring painting in the expanded field.
All submissions are reviewed anonymously by a judging panel (to be announced) who select a group of at least five winners from each country to take part in a contemporary art exhibition at the Winchester Gallery in Autumn of 2023. A list of participating institutions and all the nominated students will be listed on our website.
The WSA Painting Prize has been developed to support artists at an early stage in their practice.
